The donor indicated that this quilt was made by Nancy Boyd Putnam, born on February 12, 1859, in Laurens County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Issac P. and Matilda Angeline Pitts Putnam. Nancy's husband, William Abner Putanm, was born on November 10, 1858. He was the son of James Perry and Mary Frances Parks Perry. Nancy and William were married in 1880, in Laurens, SC. They had five children born between 1881 and 1895: Elmer Eugene, Lillian May, William Alger, Leila Belle, and Inez Boyd. Nancy Putnam made the quilt while living near Laurens, later moving with her family to Greenville, SC, where she lived until her death July 10, 1927.
