Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:
The block in the center is a piece of black velvet with a design of pink roses and foliage painted on it.The fabrics are varied in type, color and pattern with most of satin.Various motifs are used throughout the quilt, such as flowers, plants and animals; Pictorial groups include: a stork getting something out of an urn next to a wolf; and a mouse in a cart being pulled by a cat. These two designs appear to have been embroidered by two different people, since the style and quality of the embroidery work is not the same in both. A number of pieces have hand-painted designs, and these too, appear to have been done by more than one hand.
