In 1846 Sarah Hall, a native of Middletown, Connecticut, married William Agustus Gwyer in New York. During their married life they lived in North Carolina, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C. Mrs. Gwyer probably made this Star of Bethlehem quilt during the time her husband was a member of the City Council in Omaha, Nebraska. See DAR 85.62.2 for another quilt from same family.
