According to 1850 census Sarah Hardesty was 30 years old, had $75 in real estate and two children, Eliza 11 and Lucinda 8. Sarah died between 1859 and 1864. A note attached to the quilt, written by Eliza Hardesty Farren, dated May 30, 1908, identifies the maker and date of the quilt.
