See DAR 87.67.2 and DAR 88.23 for quilts by same maker. Design is called "Stars and Stripes' and appeared in the July 1861 issue of Peterson's Magazine a women's periodical published in Philadelphia. The number of stars in the center represent the number of states in the Union from 1861 until 1863. The Smithsonian Museum of American history has a similar quilt: cat alog #T.8420, made by Mary Rochold -Teter dated 1861.
