Three strip borders surround center hexagon medallion; inner border of mixed fabrics, 1 1/2 inches wide, middle border of cream fabric 2 inches wide, outer border of mixed fabrics, 2 inches wide. Two borders surround outer edge of the quilt; inner border of 1/2 square triangles, 12 inches wide, outermost border of mixed fabrics 2 x 4 1/2 inches.

Among silk pieces are two campaign ribbons for Henry Clay. The ribbons state "Henry Clay/The Pride of America" and "The People's Choice/ Protector of America." In addition, a small portion of a third ribbon contains the image of an eagle and states "abstinence." These types of ribbons were most commonly found on badges worn at political rallies and saved as souvenirs.

Donor's information (see file for original): "Rebecca Vanuxem Lombart was born on February 23, 1819 in Morrisville, Pa. She was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Arndt) Lombart. Her grandfather, Capt. John Arndt and great grandfather, Col. Henry Wynkoop, both fought in the American Revolution. The quilt was made by Rebecca for her hope chest during 1840 while she was living in Philadelphia, Pa. She married Griffith Williams on April 30, 1850. They settled in Lambertsville, N.J. where her husband became a merchant. They had five children and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Rebecca Williams died on March 11, 1880 and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetary [sic] in Lambertsville, N.J."
