According to donor," Effa pieced, appliqued and quilted this quilt probably at the time of her wedding in Ohio in 1817. Effa b. 1797 Maryland, and d. 1876 Mason County, IL. Mother of Thomas Wendell d. 1912 Lincoln, IL, the father of Sarah Ann Wendell Treakle (Mrs. John Wm.) d. 1948 Middletown, IL, the mother of Vera Ethel (d. 1979) Treakle Coningham (Mrs. Seward Bradman), mother of the donor. Effa then is the great-great grandmother of Winifred [donor]." This quilt identified in "Ohio Quilt Project." Style and fabrics of the quilt indicate Donor's date is incorrect and that the quilt was made circa 1850.
