Rated 5 (outstanding) on HQPNJ's scale for visual effect. This quilt is an exceptionally well executed version of the Dresden Plate, a popular design of the Depression era. An original touch on this quilt is the addition of the ivy leaves connected with embroidered stems that decorate the corners of the blocks.

Quiltmaker was originally from Syracuse, New York. Although it is not known exactly where this quilt was made, it came down through the family of Dorothy Allerton Eden, a long time resident of Montclair, New Jersey in Essex County, and a great niece of the quiltmaker.
