This traditional pattern was constructed of 435 pieced "Five Patch" blocks and 435 alternate blocks, each with four appliqued red squares in the corners. The border design at the top of the quilt consists of nine diamonds, English-pieced hexagons, in white and red. All work was done by hand, including the quilting.
