Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
"Rebirth" by artist Scott Murkin. Murkin created the quilt in 2003, using one of his favorite techniques of reverse applique over patchwork. The quilt was exhibited at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum's 2003 men's show, "The Fabric of Their Lives." The background patchwork captures the quality of flickering flames and the scale of a fire out of control. Fabrics are beautifully gradated from pale yellows to deep, dark intense rusts. Brighter oranges capture the explosive nature of fire. The black silhouettes of the forest still before the advancing flames, is a whole piece, designed from a foundation piece, then appliqued as the whole piece. The quilt was most recently published in "Quilter's World" (April 2007). HowAcquired: Donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum by the artist, Scott Murkin of Asheboro, NC, in 2007. Ownership/History: Created by quilt artist Scott Murkin in 2003, inspired by the devastating forest fires of 2002 that swept through Colorado. LocMade: Asheboro//NC///USA
