Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

One of the original 101 quilts donated by Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO, to start the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Made by Margaret Fay Garrity as a gift in exchange for the hospitality of her relatives after her husband's death. This quilt is machine pieced of solid fabrics in red, green, and white with green sashing and red and green borders. Embroidery in some of the windows is done with red cotton thread. The batting is cotton. The binding is red fabric cut on straight grain, hand and machine attached with mitered corners. The quilt is hand quilted overall with straight lines, and with diagonal lines in the borders. The stitching is even at 4 stitches to the inch, done with white cotton/polyester thread. The backing is cotton muslin. Ownership/History: Made by Margaret Fay Garrity as a gift in exchange for the hospitality of her relatives after her husband's death. The Fay family moved from Middleton, NY, to Denver, CO in 1881. Margaret, a daughter, married and moved to Salina, Kansas. When her husband died, she moved back to Denver staying with different relatives. She made a quilt at each house and left it with the family. Ruth Jennings Hanson, a niece, was given this quilt in 1926 and gave it to her daughter, Marjorie Sweeney, who traded it to Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO, for a new quilt in 1991.
