One of the original 101 quilts donated by Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO, to start the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. This quilt is hand pieced of plaid, striped, checked, and flowered fabrics in red, blue, and white with red sashing. The batting is cotton. The binding is yellow fabric cut on straight grain and attached by hand. The quilt is hand quilted in a fan pattern. The stitching is even at 4 stitches to the inch. Family history states the thread is flax, handspun by the maker. The backing is machine pieced off-white fabric. According to the family, the quilt was made when the maker was twelve years old. Ownership/History: Made in KY by grandmother of Shirley Coffeldt, a friend of Eugenia Mitchell. LocMade: ///KY//USA
