This quilt is machine pieced from red, yellow, and off-white fabrics with yellow and white borders and has 506 signatures in black ink. The batting is polyester and the binding is folded over from the back with mitered corners. The backing is machine pieced muslin. The quilting pattern is done with white cotton thread in the Baptist Fan design overall, with diamonds in the widest border. The stitches are even at 4 to the inch. The Halley's Comet block was designed by Mamie Privet from Missouri for a "Hearth and Home Magazine" contest in 1910-12.
