This quilt is hand pieced of solid, plain, striped, checked, flowered, historical, and geometric fabrics in red, brown, and white with black and white check cotton borders. The quilt was repaired in 1920 with new fabric hand sewn on the back and folded over to the front. HowAcquired: Donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum by Katheryn Shaw of Arvada. Ownership/History: Previously owned and possibly made by Isabella Atchinson Coats, the Great-grandmother of the donor. Isabella was born in 1831, settled in Sterling, IL, then homesteaded in Wyoming in 1916. LocMade: unknown
