Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
This massive sampler quilt was used as the backdrop in the final scene of the musical play "Quilters." Throughout the play, pioneer women create quilt blocks that relate to the story they are telling. At the end of the play, all of those blocks appear in this quilt, which is lowered at the back of the stage as the women sing their final piece. This particular quilt was first used in the premier production of the play at the Denver Center for Performing Arts in 1982, then traveled the country with the stage ensemble until spring 1985. It has since been used by other groups in the Denver area for productions of the play. Donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Ownership/History: Made by sixteen Golden, CO, quilters, including Eugenia Mitchell, as a stage drop for the play "Quilters" which premiered at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in November 1982. The quilt then toured with the play to 16 states. LocMade: Golden///CO//USA
