Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

One of two Columbine Healing quilts. This Columbine High School Healing quilt was donated by Debbie Paulson of Lakewood who was the Colorado caretaker of the quilts, made by people from all over the world who sent blocks to support the families of Columbine High School. This project originated through an Internet bulletin board for cross-stitchers. The quilt was presented in Littleton, Colorado at the anniversary memorial service (April 20, 2000). Blocks were collected and assembled by Kathie Baumgardner of Crystal River, Florida. This quilt contains half of the blocks. Second quilt: Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum PQ.2002.015.001. From the website: "We are a group of internet cross-stitchers from all over the world. Though most of us are strangers, we wanted to show that the internet can be a very positive place and that people truly do care. Here is our story... We felt a burden for the people of Littleton and wanted to do something to comfort them. What could be more comforting than a quilt? The quilt project started shortly after the tragedy and has been a year in the making. We have received 540 squares, lovingly stitched by a variety of people from all over the world, both young and old. The response was so overwhelming, the "quilt" grew into two king-sized quilts. The stitchers were instructed to select their own pattern, one that touched them in some way. Some designed their own square, some stitched holiday squares to show that these precious lives will be remembered all year round. The snowflake pattern was designed specifically for the quilt project by Melissa Fischer of Stitchin' Ovations. The "hearts holding hands" in the pattern represent love and the flowers represent growth and peace. We would like to thank our generous sponsors who contributed financially and those who donated items used for the construction of the quilts. A big thank you to the wonderful stitchers who made it all possible. It has blessed us all to be able to participate. We hope the quilt will be a lasting treasure for years to come, and most of all it will show that Columbine will NOT be forgotten. May these quilts comfort you and help heal your heart and spirit." www.geocities.com/chsquilt This quilt was finished in 2000 and measures 95" x 113" . There are 180 blocks, cross-stitch sampler blocks 5-1/4", set in groups of nine, with a 2-1/2" blue sashing. Several blocks have some cross-stitch patterns in various colors. Blocks include designs, maker names and address squares, designs include bears, flowers, sayings, people and animals. The edge is finished back to front, machine applied 3-1/4" mitered, blue cotton. Backing is blue cotton. Borders and sashing are blue. HowAcquired: Donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum by Debbie Paulson of Lakewood, CO.
