Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

Pat Hubbard pieced and quilted this South Fork of the Oregon Trail in 1994-1995, which tells of her grandparents' travel from the east to the Colorado Territory. The detailed embroidery accurately depicts many plants, birds and other animals found in the region. This quilt took 6th place in the National Lands Contest and was exhibited at county fairs. Starting at the top: there is sky, hills, Pawnee Butte, plains, Indian encampment and buffalo hunt, plains wildlife and foreground of 2 wagons, horses and people; figures increase in size to show depth. Embroidery includes: satin stitch, outline, crewel-style techniques to add texture; French knots, daisy stitch. Figures depiced: Indians, buffalo, tents, horses, antelope, coyotes, skunks, prairie dogs, birds, wildflowers (many varieties). Details on harnesses and clothing. Pat received a 2000 Folk Arts Artist Fellowship Award for the quilt. HowAcquired: Purchased by the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum from the maker, Pat Hubbard of Greeley, CO.
