This elegant design is based on a published Mountain Mist pattern. The negative space created by the vining cherries brings attention to the stuffed-work floral designs quilted in and raised through surrounding stippling that flattens the area around the stuffed trapunto designs. The quilt is finished with a classic mid nineteenth century technique of inserting piping (red, in this case) between the outside edge of the quilt and the black binding.

The lucky person whose name was drawn would get to select a quilt pattern and fabrics, and that special quilt would be their Christmas gift the following year. According to the quiltmaker, "I've made all of them so many quilts we don't even hold the drawing anymore! Some of them have two and three quilts each."

Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

The lucky daughter-in-law who received this Cherry Ripe Quilt loved its colors and notes that "You could probably say the colors used in my new house derived from this quilt!" The quiltmaker made her first quilt, a Lone Star, in 1971, when she was "40ish."
