Shine of chintz and high loft batting add dimension to the stained glass look; dark brown "leading" is set in, not appliqued on, between the pieced blocks. The outer rectangular glass panels frame the central circular medallion motif. The look is very realistic.

Mrs. Parker's Stained Glass Quilt was a blue-ribbon winner at the Texas State Fair and hung in the invitation show "Stained Glass Connection" in Lexington, KY.

Mrs. Parker began quilting when she was five or six, "just big enough to stand at frame." Her mother and grandmother were both quilters and they "always allowed me to quilt on their quilts, they never said a word about my big stitches." Her first quilt was a Nine Patch, which she recalled was "a true disaster." Mrs. Parker does many other kinds of needlework, including crocheting and knitting, but she states she would much rather quilt. She creates about two quilts each year and has taken quilt classes in Kentucky, Georgia, Houston, and Fort Worth.
