Tell the story of how the quilt was obtained:
The Sunday Friends was a group of Austin Stitchery Guild members who were primarily interested in quiltmaking; they started meeting on Sunday afternoons to quilt together in 1978. The group worked on a point system through which a quiltmaker kept a record of quilting activity done for another member, such as quilting a quilt or piecing a block. Members earned a token after a specified amount of assistance, and when a project was completed, one token was drawn from the pot, and the winner could choose to have her quilt top go into the frame next or she could have a top pieced. When Kathleen McCrady won a Sunday Friends drawing, she decided to have an applique top made that would combine several traditional Rose of Sharon blocks of her selection. Various members of the group made these blocks in 1982/83.
