This quilt was made in Senoia, Georgia, by Rachel Haynes Addy, who brought it to Texas around 1871 when she moved to Grayson County with her husband and two young children. Her daughter Mary Jane Addy (1870-1935) inherited the quilt from her mother, then passed it on to her daughters Clara R. Williams Shaw (1892-1991) and Alta William Kaderli (1897-1974). These two sisters gave it to the then president of the Colorado County Historical Society for display in a planned local museum. The daughter of this official donated this quilt to Winedale in 2007, after her mother (the president of the historical society) died and both donors had died and it was clear that such a museum would never be built.
