Tell the story of how the quilt was obtained:
The granddaughter of quiltmaker Lou Lou Taylor Munhall inherited this quilt. Descendants of the quiltmaker moved to Houston, Texas, around 1918, and the quilt remained in the family from then until the time of its donation by the granddaughter, Mrs. John C. (Betsy) Dickson, of Austin, Texas.
Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
This quilt is one of approximately forty-two quilts that the Texas Memorial Museum (TMM) at the University of Texas at Austin transferred to the University’s Center for American History (CAH) in April 2003 as part of TMM’s transfer of selected material culture objects from its collections to CAH and other research facilities on the UT-Austin campus. These TMM quilts are now part of CAH’s Winedale Quilt Collection. Information relating to each quilt’s provenance is based on documentation recorded by TMM staff at the time of acquisition, which began in the early 1940s and continued until 2003. This quilt was donated to the Texas Memorial Museum in August 1983. Donor records indicate the quilt was made by Lou Lou Taylor Munhall of Wyoming sometime prior to 1850, though a technical reviewer dates the quilt to 1870-1890. Family records indicate that Mrs. Munhall also owned the Crazy Quilt TMM1834-1, which was made for her by friends in Wyoming ca. early 1890s. Mrs. Munhall's granddaughter, Mrs. Betsy Dickson, donated both quilts to the Texas Memorial Museum (she donated TMM1834-1 in 1962 and TMM2460-1 in 1983).
