65 blocks with names embroidered on/ one block had date 1936/ "This quilt was started in Highlawn by Mrs. Bell's friends , March 9, 1936/ towns named: Parkersburg, St. Albans, Hurricane/ blocks were passed out to individuals to embroider their names on, friends and relatives/ made as a friendship quilt for a woman who was becoming an invalid (owner's mother-in-law). She was becoming stooped over.The legs were shortened on the furniture so she could reach things.
