THIS QUILT DESIGNED AND PIECED BY LOTTIE HOWARD SMITH, ASSISTED BY HER MOTHER, FAYE GUNNOE, IN THE LATE 1930'S AND EARLY 40'S. iT WAS SAID THAT HER SISTER, CLARA, WANTED THE QUILT. SHE KEPT IT FOR A SHORT TIME AND SAID THE QUILT CAME APART ANE SHE PUT IT IN A BAG FOR STORAGE, BUT THE QUILT IS INTACT. LOTTIE WAS ONE OF 13 CHILDREN, A TWIN OF BROTHER BOB.
