There are published patterns of Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam, but they do not look like these. The boys all have protruding pointed abdomens. The pattern could have been found printed in a newspaper, magazine, or it could be a purchased pattern. The boys are more similar to each other than the girls. One has a different shaped hat with embellished band, one has a wider skirt, one does not have defined feet, another has outlined shoes and an embroidered bow on the neck.
