In the center of the medallion there is a feathered oval-shaped wreath. There are 1" parallel lines (each quadrant of the quilt converges toward the center). Around the poppy components, the quilting is in-the-ditch. There is a .5" wide scalloped cable around the outer side of poppy wreath applique. There is then a feathered cable around the wreath. The par allel lines continue to fill background. A .5" wide cable surrounds this, then the outermost quilting is parallel lines perpendicular to the edge of the quilt 1" apart. There are poppy springs approximately every foot in the background quilting.
Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:
This is expertly quilted. The polyester and poly/cot blends used would indicate it was finished quite later in time than when the all-cotton top was made, possibly by a different person? No information available about the maker. The design and poppy motif are very reminiscent of quilts designed by Marie Webster, and sold as patterns and kits from her home in Marion, Indiana c. 1920-1948.
