Batting: grandmother knew man who worked in cotton mill and would save card ends of cotton bailcords. Grandmother would rub the cotton pieces together in her hands. Grandmothers hands were rought from this. She would have one room in her home where she would lay all cotton pieces down on top back and would quilt each area at a time until she ha enought batting to complete quilt.
