McGuire has "power link" boxes with outlets in them. These can be plugged into various items such as sewing machines, blenders, mixers, etc. A hand switch can be plugged into the power link. The ladies took turns pressing the switch to run the machine to help with the sewing. Two volunteers came in on two different week days to help the ladies sew the quilt squares together and but the batting and backing on.; The brand of dye used was Ritz One Step Tie-Dye. Staff and volunteers helped the ladies wind rubber bands around their quilt square. With hand over hand assistance, the ladies were able to squirt the dye onto the material to make the designs.
