Biography of the quiltmaker:
This was the quiltmaker's first use of brown material in a quilt. The quilt was inspired by another quilt: "Craigdarck Castle wanted a traditional patterna dn the "Piecemakers" of Sydney BC chose this pattern. After making the fan quilt for Craigdarck Castle in Victoria, BC, our group decided to make our own--the only stipulation was that we had to use colours we didn't normally use. Mine were brown and green plus muslin. After going through my cupboards and scraps I added by buying from the local quilt shop "Which Craft" and came up with fabric. It was cut out and packed away for several months when we moved from Sydney to Vancouver to La Range. It was quilted on a two foot by one foot frame in La Range. After the centre design was laid out, 6 differed corners were tried until I chose the one all members of the family liked." Quiltmaker hsas also lived in Victoria, Sydney, Alert Bay, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Mackenzie and Ladysmith, BC; La Range and Regina, SK; and Calgary, AB.
