The quiltmaker’s work has been recognized nationally through publications and exhibitions. Connie Hufnagel made this quilt as a fund-raising quilt for the fund-raising raffle at the American International Quilt Association Show, 1983. Connie Hufnagel states that she always collected fabric and found making quilts the perfect way to use what she had collected. She made her first quilt, a pre-stamped Carousel crib quilt, in 1968 at age twenty-four while expecting her first child. “In 1975, after a lapse of seven years, I caught quilt fever and made my first full-size quilt, a scrap Churn Dash, for my daughter and three crib quilts for the birth of my second son. I’ve been quilting as much as possible since then.”
