From QuiltIndex
Welcome H-Net Members!
The Quilt Index is used by a wide range of humanities scholars and teachers, from analyses of material culture in literature, to studies by art historians of the development and dissemination of particular patterns or techniques, to explorations by women's, ethnic, labor, and social historians.
On this page you will find relevant quilts in the Quilt Index database for just about every H-Net list!
Here’s how you can start using quilts in your teaching:
- Check out the quilt(s) specially chosen for members of your discussion list below
- You can find more quilts by searching the Quilt Index by fields such as pattern name, quilter, location made, and religious, ethnic and/or cultural affiliation of the quiltmaker at http://www.quiltindex.org/search.php
- Get creative with keyword searches—you’ll find quilts that cut across a variety of disciplines by searching keywords like “freedom”
- You can also browse quilts in the Quilt Index by fields such as time period, style and techniques used, location made, and purpose or function of the object at http://www.quiltindex.org/browse.php
