The Jackson County Historical Society holds textual files detailing each of the quilt patterns (and other creations) that Ruby Short McKim, well-known and early quilter and appliqué publisher, created through her Independence, Missouri, based business. Her serial pattern installments were syndicated throughout Midwest newspapers and national publications like Better Homes and Gardens and Child Life to name a couple. McKim Studios also produced dolls and published Doll Talk, which we have a complete run from the 1930s-1980s. The collection also contains a wealth of original materials about McKim, her family, and ancestry.

Physical access to the collection is by appointment. Remote inquiries are fielded through a standardized research process explained at: *http://store.jchs.org/category.cfm?Category=24&CFID=5949&CFTOKEN=36456000
