Although not a museum, as of early 2010, this is the only gallery in the country dedicated to quilts made by Zulu artists. Elisabeth Baratta, a transplant to South Africa from California, runs fabric and quilt sales shop and a training program for about 26 individuals (all but one, women) to quilt for the market. Supported by grants from the Rotary Foundation, the quiltmakers in the non-profit program of the Assisting Communities Trust, have made hundred of quilts and sell their work locally and globally.

"This information originally gathered in 2010 by Marsha MacDowell, Michigan State University Museum, during research on quilt history in South Africa that was supported by a fellowship from the International Quilt Study Center and Museum at University of Nebraska-Lincoln with additional in-kind support from Michigan State University Museum."
